Slam Cartel / Voodoo Vegas / rumHoney / The Dead Stray / Dollface @ The 100 Club, London 11th August 2012

The 100 Club became home to our 1st event yesterday as the doors opened up for us at 3pm for load in. The sound engineer Ray was there waiting for us, wondering what delights we had in store for him! The room was empty and seemed huge, although what lay ahead was something different. Visions of it being packed to the rafters was what we were all seeing.

First in were Slam Cartel, even their sound check blew us away! A taste of what was in store later from our headlining band. Confirming the reason why ‘Home Grown Rock’ was founded in the first plce, it was to give this band the best stage to perform on.

After each band sound checked we stood waiting for the night to begin… then in walked our first few people, then more and more people came. It was amazing, just knowing what we have done for these bands makes us feel so proud to be part of their lives, part of the new music scene and helping bringing amazing events to their fans.

So first on were Dollface, they opened up the evening to an acoustic set, which was strong and powerful enough to hold its own even without having a full band. It was a great sound to walk down the stairs into the main hall, since they greeted the crowd with ease and warmed up the evening smoothly in time for the next band on.

The Dead Stray, wow such amazing amount of musical talent reaching out into every corner of the venue. By this time the venue was packing out and more and more people were coming in. What an absolute pleasure to have people walking in to listen to this band. We are so happy we have these boys booked again on our Hallowe’en event since seeing them once is never enough.

Shortly after the stage gave home to rumHoney, a fantastic band with a huge following all rocking out on the front row to the swagger of the singer and the sheer solid sound of the lead guitar. The night was going to plan, the crowds were buzzing to the melodies and riffs this amazing band gave out.

On next were the gorgeous rockers Voodoo Vegas, wow what an extrance on stage, the crowd lined up ready with air guitars and singing out to every song, they sure knew how to please their fans! Recently coming out of Rockfields Studio, the singers voice was strong and present reaching notes as high as the ceiling, the band was bliss to watch and hear. The crowd shouted them on for an encore which was fantastic to witness!

Now onto our headlining act Slam Cartel. Their presence on stage is overwhelming, not knowing where to look with such an amount of talent to listen to and watch, all coming together as one deep and wide hit of sheer musical perfection. You can get lost in their music, it absorbs your heart and soul and the lyrics make you feel part of their story. As the night drew to a close Slam Cartel didn’t waiver, they kept it strong and magnificent, the professional quality of a huge stadium band. We will see them headline our own festival next year!
